Gift Cards & Rewards
Your ShopDesk dashboard includes tools for managing gift cards and rewards. They serve different purposes, so here's what to know.
Gift Cards vs. Rewards
Gift Card
A gift card is created by your business for future purchases. In ShopDesk, gift cards are intended for ongoing balance tracking rather than one-time promotional use, so customers can use any remaining balance across multiple visits. Any expiration or other usage terms depend on the issuing business and applicable law.
Reward
A one-time promotional incentive created by your business. Rewards can have an optional expiration date and are fully redeemed in a single use.
Issuing Gift Cards & Rewards
Business owners and authorized staff can create gift cards and rewards from the dashboard. Each one receives a unique code that can be shared with customers.
Redeeming
Staff can redeem gift cards and rewards at the point of service using the QR scanner or by entering the code manually. For gift cards, the tracked balance is updated based on the redemption amount. Rewards are fully redeemed in one use.
About Payments
Your business collects and handles all customer payments directly. ShopDesk provides software tools to create, track, and manage gift cards and rewards, and does not process or hold customer funds on behalf of businesses or customers.
Usage Terms
Your business is responsible for defining and communicating all gift card and reward terms to customers, including any terms, conditions, or disclosures required by applicable law. Customers should contact your business directly for terms and conditions.
Plan Limits
On the Free plan, you can issue up to 10 gift cards per month. The Pro plan has no limits. Rewards follow the same limits. Monthly counts reset at the beginning of each calendar month.
